A PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY INTO MEA'S MAINTENANCE FACILITY, FEBRUARY 1981.
These pictures were taken by my friend Nabil Sargologo. We were classmates at the Collège Protestant Français, and he was in charge of taking the pictures for the report we had to make on our visit to Beirut International Airport. Our visit included MEA's maintenance facility, our guide was Captain Abdul-Moneim Hoteit. Boeing 720 OD-AFU was the first airplane I ever entered. It was the centerpiece of our visit as it was undergoing maintenance at the hangar. Nabil's pictures include 2 other Boeings, just outside the hangar. The photographs are a bit intuitive, but we were just in fifth grade then...
OD-AFU was destroyed by the Israeli army, along with five other MEA Boeing 720s during the shelling of Beirut International Airport in the 1982 invasion .
